Autobesity

Do they care about you?

Who drives these beasts anyway? Do they really care about the environment? Care about you? With carbon emissions being the number one culprit to global warming they're higher miles per gallon do more damage to the environment than a small car. As owners of these SUV's they don't care a damn about your future in fifty years time, they will not be here.

And its just not the miles per gallon, their bigger tires shed more particles into the environment, they are heavier and wear out roads more.

These are their excuses for owning one:

It makes me feel safer. Yet the SUV will crush a small car or cause more injury to a pedestrian in an accident. But the drives gives a big FU to you guys. I am out for myself.

I have a large family and I need space for their things. Did our forefathers drive SUV's? No, they had cars and station wagons. Most garages are full of junk, that's because if you build one you can fill one. If you buy an SUV you fill one. Try doing without like the rest of us, stick the kids in the back seat of a car, like your parents did

What does the govenment do about it?

Not enough. There is a higher tax on these beasts. But obviously not enough as year after year the percentage of SUV's on the road becomes higher and the SUV's get bigger. Their sale should be banned, without excuse. For existing SUV's they should be taxed very heavily to deter ownership.

What can you do?

Give them the message that they are not wanted by;

  • If they are attempting to turn into your road, do not stop and let them in. Drive on
  • If intending to cross the road on a pedestrian crossing, wait until you see an SUV then attempt to cross
  • Park in such a way that it becomes difficult for the SUV to exit
  • Shun the owner, give them a thumbs down as they pass, be careful, remember SUV's care less about humans
  • If waiting to turn into a road and the only vehicle is an SUV(s) behind you, take your own sweet time
  • If an SUV is waiting for you to leave the petrol pump, go into the shop, browse a while, a long while.

On point number two I have noticed that a small car is far more likely to stop for you if attempting to cross a road.
